Beauty on a Budget: Summer Essentials

We all know beauty is more than how you look, and that no amount of product will change your character or who you truly are deep inside. But feeling beautiful and taking care of the skin you live in doesn't make you shallow, it simply makes you, you.

The only thing I enjoy more than finding a few new great products that help make my beauty or skin routine better is finding those products and not breaking the bank. Because lets be honest, taking care of yourself and feeling pretty shouldn't be expensive. So here is a list of my top favorite summer essentials!

1. Garnier BB Cream

Okay I have been using this as my go-to foundation for probably three years. I have switched a few times or tried new brands or more expensive products, but I always come back to this one! I love that it is nourishing my skin and protecting it all while blending in seamlessly. Because no-one wants to actually see their foundation, and for less that 10 bucks a tube, you can feel good putting it on to run to the store or on a hike outdoors.

2. Mario Badescu Facial Spray

This is a product I started using in the last year, and I don't know why I waited so long! I bought it to help set my make up and also to add some hydration to my look... who doesn't want to look like they are glowing? It is the perfect pick me up for sun kissed (okay maybe a little sunburnt) skin or skin like mine, that just tends to be on the dryer side. The best part? it smells like a faint hint of roses! so everytime you spray it on you aren't just making sure your make up will last but you're hydrating your skin and making your face smell oh so sweet.

3. Deborah Lippmann "The World is your Oyster" nail polish duo

We all like getting a pedicure and making sure our feet are sandal ready and toes are polished but it can be expensive. A few years back I noticed my sisters nails always seemed perfectly manicured but I had no idea how she had time to always visit the salon. I asked her to share her secret, and she did. She told me she stopped going to the salon and instead invested in good products so she could do it at home. instead of spending 20 plus dollars at a nail salon each time, she would buy a high end bottle of nail polish that would last forever and take care of her hands and feet at home. See, high-end nail polish tends to have great wear and less harsh chemicals so it keeps your nails looking great even when you chose to not wear polish. I love these colors because they look amazing together or separately so you can get multiple different looks and they look great on your hands or feet for summer!

4. Lush Mint Julep lip Scrub

This is one of not only my favorites, but also my little girls love this and who can blame them.... it's made from, sugar! This product is a fun way to take care of dry lips, it may seem like a splurge but trust me it last forever. A little goes along way and after you are done rubbing your lips soft, since it uses all natural ingredients, you can lick off the rest. Tastes like minty chocolate and it leaves your lips feeling like they just came back from a day at the spa.

5. Fresh Cream Perfume

Perfume is a instant mood booster. Smells have a way of transporting us back to memories and places and I love when I can spray on some perfume even if my hair looks a mess and my clothes looked like I slept in them, and I instantly feel pulled together. The first time my little girls smelled this, they said it smelled just like cotton candy, haha I guess that’s a really good thing for them! I love it because it’s not too strong or over powering but smells clean and well fresh! Put it on your dresser or in your bag and spray it when you need a little pick me up, also the smell really lasts! I am always happy, when I can pick up a shirt I wore the night before and still smell that lingering smell of Fresh Cream.

6. Hawaiian Tropic Sunscreen

We can't talk about summer essentials without talking about sunscreen. Most people have a favorite that they stick to and I was no exception until I went to Hawaii for vacation and forgot my sunscreen. I picked this sunscreen up on a whim at the local drug store and now it has become my latest obsession. What do I like about it? Well first, it keeps my skin protected! thats huge because why put something on that doesn't work, right? Secondly, it smells like a Hawaiian vacation and thirdly, it is cheap! Its hard to want to keep lathering on a product that you know is going to run out and cost you, your next vacation to pay for. This sunscreen is about what you’ll pay for a latte or shaved ice in Hawaii, and is top rated on Amazon.

Those are my Summer Essentials, because it really is the small things that make all the difference and I love finding new things to add to my beauty routine and I hope you do too. Enjoy and Happy Summer!
